EASYGOING SPIRIT
Built for pleasure in the easy end of the EN B class, the Makalu 3 instils confidence and inspires you to progress towards your free-flying goals. The handling is sublime, the character is sporty without being nervous and the performance is worthy of a much more demanding design.
The new Makalu 3 from UP uses all the technological advances we know of to make your flying more rewarding, - things that may not all be visible at first glance, but which refine the entire character of the wing.
The Makalu 3 has already found many followers all over the world, pilots who appreciate its forgiving character coupled with high, usable everyday performance and ease of mind. The wing is being used both as a school wing for talented beginners, but also as an XC wing that makes learning the ropes of the trade so much easier and less stressful. It is a wing that instils confidence right from the start and will let its pilot concentrate on improving their decisionmaking skills rather than having to deal with glider management.
When the DHV (German Hang-gliding Federation) recently re-tested a number of EN A and EN B wings to see if the rumour that some wings were sneaking into these classes in spite of having too demanding flight characteristics, the Makalu3 came out at the top of its class in every aspect, often putting even EN A wings to shame by showing easier and more forgiving reactions to the testing manoeuvres. In fact the L size of the Makalu3 DID pass the EN tests in the A category, but we still think of the wing as an EN B wing in all sizes, not least because both performance and handling place it firmly in that category.
